An interesting nationwide initiative for professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs until November 2024.
Lawyers, chartered accountants, aspiring entrepreneurs, and small and medium-sized enterprises, we would like to inform you about an interesting initiative by the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti and Pescara, which is completely free of charge. We discuss this with Angela Chiumeo, Head of the Trademarks and Patents Service of the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti and Pescara.
Since 2000, the Chamber of Commerce Industry Crafts and Agriculture of Chieti and Pescara has actively participated in the dissemination of intellectual property culture in the regional territory by establishing, among its services, the PatLib Patent Library and the Patent Information Point (PIP). The merger of these two institutions led to the agreement with the UIBM for the establishment of a single PatLib which, following the activities previously carried out, is very active in the Abruzzo region.
Also for the current year 2024, within the services provided by PatLib, the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti and Pescara has organized a first aid and legal technical assistance service that will take place in a series of One-to-One assistance days, completely free of charge, on industrial property, dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises or individuals, lawyers, chartered accountants, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
During which period of the current year are the appointments scheduled?
The meetings will take place by appointment, generally online, on the following dates: March 21, April 18, May 14, June 13, July 18, September 26, October 24, and November 21, 2024. During the meetings with industrial property consultants registered in the appropriate register, doubts can be clarified and specialized assistance, not mere guidance, can be provided for patent or proprietary applications and registration of trademarks, designs or models both in Italy and within the European and international context.
What are the objectives of this initiative?
The service aims to provide clarification and guidance on issues specifically raised by users who request it, such as: filing trademark, patent, design applications in Italy or abroad, searches, trademarks and patents; copyright; collective and certification marks; IP management in companies; confidentiality agreements and contracts; counterfeiting, financing, and economic evaluation of industrial property titles; trademark study, economic management of patent and trademark portfolios, business networks. Industrial property consultants who have expressed interest in the initiative promoted by PatLib, included in the list published by the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti and Pescara, will participate. However, a chamber official will always be present. The expert is bound by professional secrecy obligations pursuant to Article 206 of the Industrial Property Code and cannot use or disclose the information and data learned during the performance of the service-related activities. No direct professional assistance relationship is established between the expert and the users in the activities carried out. Chamber of Commerce officials present at the appointments undertake not to disclose the information discussed.
How will the meetings be structured?
Each meeting will last approximately 45 minutes. Users who request it will be able to access the service free of charge, upon reservation, by completing the appropriate form to be sent via email to the patents and trademarks office. Each user cannot use the service more than once for the same subject (invention, model, design, trademark, etc.). The meetings will be organized by the Chamber of Commerce based on the requests received; the date and time of the meeting will be communicated in advance by the user via email. The events are open to all companies or individuals interested in the aforementioned issues. In conclusion, the initiative, with a national scope, aims to disseminate the culture of intellectual property, a fascinating but niche area of law, not limited to the mere filing of a trademark or patent. It aims to provide comprehensive information to anyone approaching the field of patent protection and defense, trademarks, and design.
