Petritoli: A jewel nestled among the hills of Fermo
The small jewel nestled among the hills of Fermo, founded by the Farfensi monks in the 10th century, which according to a well-established tradition derives its name from the fusion of three castles Petrosa, Petrania, and Petrollavia, is renowned for its characteristic views and romantic atmosphere.
Its serene beauty has made it famous throughout Europe, turning it into one of the most renowned and sought-after settings for wedding ceremonies. German, Dutch, and French couples have contributed in recent years to the tourist success of the Marche town, halting the common decline of many inland villages of the peninsula and revitalizing the local economy thanks to tourism. A virtuous example of how the unmistakable beauty of our villages can contribute to their survival and the success of the Italian brand in the international tourist panorama.
A special day marked by serenity and beauty. What better prelude for those who want to frame their wedding day in an indelible memory than to celebrate it in a romantic village overlooking the splendid slopes of the Marche hills? Thousands of couples from all over the world (Australia, United States, Europe, Russia, New Zealand, Canada, Israel, etc.) decide every year to celebrate their weddings in Petritoli, a favorite destination for its enchanting views and its unmistakable romantic and familiar atmosphere. In recent years, the small Marche center has earned the title of City of Weddings, activating an industry that has allowed a small community, which counts 2500 inhabitants, to survive the slow decline affecting an increasing number of villages and towns on the peninsula. The must-see places of the new wedding city are highly clicked on social media: among all, the suggestive Civic Tower.
Visiting Petritoli, I was captivated by its magical atmosphere, a feeling of pleasant welcome that magically removes the worries and tensions of those accustomed to moving in the concrete jungle of a sprawling metropolis. Being taken into the heart and soul, as can only happen in places that transport us out of time, where even taking a stroll through alleys full of history and ancient scents can be even healthier than a weekend at a trendy spa. This is also the beauty of the Marche village that in its quiet serenity allows us to remain human and to rediscover ourselves as a docile fiber of the universe. I recommend anyone who wants to find themselves and regenerate after a difficult period like the one we have been through, to spend a weekend in this timeless village.
A city without a theater is like a body without a soul. Although small, the wedding village preserves among its beauties a small jewel, the Theater of Iride built in the second half of the nineteenth century based on the design of Giuseppe Sabbatini of Montegiorgio, who was inspired by the theater of Fortuna in Fano, a remarkable example of the purist trend in vogue at that time. What better stage to frame the most beautiful day?
